STUDENTS' AND CADETS' COPING STRATEGIES
IN THE EXPERIENCE OF THEIR FEAR AND ANXIETY
The article deals with the results of theoretical analysis and experimental research of the coping-strategies of students and cadets in the experience of their fear and anxiety. Its purpose is to describe the differences in the experiences of students and cadets fear and anxiety; determining the conditions of their using coping-strategies and protective mechanisms. The method-complex of five questionnaires has been applied: "The hierarchical structure of actual fears" by Y. Shcherbatykh, E.Ivleva; "Fear of exams"; anxiety by C. Spielberg; "Indicator of Copy-Strategies" by J. Amirkhan; Plucick-Kellermann-Conte’ questionnaire. Methods of mathematical statistics are used to assess the reliability of the differences between the groups of comparison - by gender and form of education (students study at their own expense, cadets - for state registration). The sample consisted of 60 students and cadets of the ODUVS (a total of 120 people, including 50 girls and 70 boys). The research was conducted in March-June 2018.
The differences in the coping-strategies of cadets and students and gender differences were identified, the emphasis was placed on the need to understand stereotypical mechanisms of protection and reflection of behavioral reactions in difficult situations in order to increase the effectiveness of coping-strategies. Students and cadets, boys and girls do not react equally to threats, their fears, the level of anxiety, coping-strategies and protective mechanisms are different. Differences between fears among students, cadets and statistical norm based on the questionnaire "Hierarchical structure of actual fears" are revealed. Students and cadets with a high level of fear of exams show a high level of personal and situational anxiety by questionnaire of C.Spielberg. The experience of people consulting who feel discomfort due to over-measured fear and anxiety is summarized.
